Hi Dissenter team,

With the assistance of a small handful of students from other campuses across UWS, I have organised an open forum to be held tomorrow at Kingswood campus, Building P at midday. The Facebook event can be followed here: https://www.facebook.com/events/242735929189191/

I’ve been made aware that the Student Learning Unit and Economics department is at risk of being canned, Adjunct Professor McGlasson has officially been removed from the University, Student Central lacks sufficient envelopes to send internal mail due to “lack of funding”, and Nursing students will now be denied disability support services. More information submitted by students can be found on the event website.
Rhonda Hawkins, Angelo Kourtis (Pro Vice-Chancellor of Students), Andy Marks (Government Relations Manager), and numerous staff and hopefully representatives from NTEU and NUS will be in attendance to speak on the issue of the $14 million decrease in funding this and next year. Staff are more than welcome to come.
This forum provides both staff and students to hear the University’s plans for the near future, to find out how we may be affected by funding cuts, and to voice our concerns regarding the lack of transparency and consultation that has occurred at all levels.

Thank you,

Cathy Xiao Chen
